Jalapeño stuffed burger
Ingredients
- 2 jalapeño
- 4 tbsp cream cheese
- 1 pound ground beef
- salt
- pepper
Instructions
Dice the jalapeños into small pieces. If you like spice, keep the seeds in. If you don’t like too much spice, get rid of the seeds. Place the diced jalapeño in a mixing bowl.
Add the cream cheese to the diced jalapeño and mix. Set this mixture aside.
Separate the ground beef into 8 evenly sized balls and press them flat between the palm of your hands. Lay them flat on a resting surface.
Spoon the jalapeño mix onto four of the formed beef patties.
For each patty with jalapeño mix, lay another beef patty on top. This should create a sandwich of beef patty, then jalapeño mix, then beef patty.
For each layered patty, gently pinch the edges together so it forms a beef enclosure around a jalapeño stuffing.
Set the pan on the stovetop set to a high heat and let the pan get really hot.
Place a formed patty on the pan and let it sear. This can get smoky, so do turn on your range hood. Allow it to cook on one side for about 2-3 minutes, until the beef is cooked through on the side touching the pan.
Using a spatula, flip the patty over and allow it cook on the other side for about 2-3 minutes, until the beef is cooked through on the side touching the pan.
Transfer the cooked patty to a burger bun and serve with whatever toppings you’d like.
Tips
I prefer ground beef with higher fat content when I make my burgers. I usually aim for the 80% lean beef mix. The fat that renders out helps sear the meat during cooking, and it also helps keep the beef patty extra juicy and flavorful.
