Slow Cooked Congee


  • Water (10x the amount of rice)

  • Short grain rice

  • Salt to taste

  • Sliced scallions (optional)

  • Preserved eggs (optional)

  • Bits of chicken meat (optional)


  • Slow cooker


  1. Rinse the rice until clear.

  2. Place the rice in the slow cooker.

  3. Add the water and chicken. The chicken is optional, but adds a nice touch of flavor.

  4. Cook overnight on low. Done.

  5. Before serving, toss in the preserved eggs, sliced, and top with the scallions.
